CZ12 || Review

Compared to the last few years, the latest Jackie Chan's release has caught attention among the audiences; the good attendance (not 100%) shows this fact. The reason is simple, the new movie 'CZ12' came with the promotional campaign, claiming that it is Jackie Chan's last action venture.

I still remember, watching some of the old Chan hits like 'Spanish Connection', 'Armour of God', 'Police Story' series etc in the middle of fully packed audiences. But later, towards the end of 90's, such a situation changed. In the last decade, other than 'The Karate Kid', we did not witnessed a fair attendance for the majority shows of a Jackie Chan movie. Any way, I felt happy to see a large crowd, including families and kids for 'CZ12'.

The movie discusses the story of robbery. A team headed by our hero, is involved in robbing some of the valuable antique objects, mostly statues of animal heads. Thus the incidents are mainly focused on this cat and mouse game. The competition, betrayal, vengeance etc accompanied by some excellent action sequences, becomes the key.

Compared to the recent releases, this movie projects Jackie Chan in an youthful and more energetic style. The lengthy action sequence inside the factory, just before the climax fight, is the best example for this. It also reminds some of the old action movies by Chan. The group fighting on air at the end, is an unusual sight in Jackie Chan movies. The visual effects and the CG team did a great job there. The chase scene in the beginning was an interesting one. In short, the movie is a feast for lovers of Chan movies, in that sense, no need to cross check more on the logic side. More professionalism should have been done on the dubbing side. The scenes inside the forest felt lengthy and the English actors in the particular area, should have been more energetic on the performance side.

" A hard core fan of Jackie Chan should not miss an action adventure flick like CZ12."
